Story Line: Jyotika plays an orphan girl, June. R. She works as a director in an ad agency and is a friend of Khushboo, who plays a lawyer, Amudha. Her life is just her work and time with Amudha. Apart from this, there is a beau in her life who wants to marry her, but June doesn't reciprocate. We never get to see this suitor's face.

June is unable to deal with the fact that she is an orphan and tells everyone that she has a Mom. Amudha is not very happy with this and warns June against spreading such tales. In any case, life goes on until she is walking down the street one day and witnesses a road accident in which a woman falls to the ground. She rushes to the spot, finds this lady unconscious and takes her to the hospital for treatment. She tells everyone that this is her mother. Amma is played by Saritha. In the hospital, she takes care of Amma as if she were her own mother, despite Amudha's repeated warnings.

Amma regains consciousness. She clarifies that her name is Rani. Everyone calls her Rani Amma. She tells June that she has a son who needs to be informed of her accident and June and Amudha find him. When Arun, the son, played by Biju Menon, visits his mother at the hospital, he tells the doctors that he will be moving to the U.S. soon and would not be taking Rani Amma with him. He would place her in an old folks' home before leaving. Rani Amma is shattered and June enraged. June tells Rani Amma that she would look after her as her own mother and Rani Amma should return with her. Forget about Arun, says she.

And so, Rani Amma and June spend their days together in happiness - a mother finds a surrogate daughter.

Suddenly, Arun returns to their home when June is away at an ad shoot and tries to cajole his mother into returning with her. Rani Amma refuses, saying that she is not interested in going back to a home where the son doesn't care at all and the daughter-in-law treats her badly. Arun is furious and feels certain that June is behind his mother's mindset in this. He storms into the shoot when June is on the phone with someone and throws a tantrum. Many harsh words and threats later, he discovers that it is Rani Amma on the other line with June. Rani Amma has collapsed in distress. She is again rushed to the hospital. Her condition is serious and chances of survival slim.

What happens next? What does Rani Amma tell June that changes her life forever? How does June confront and fight the greedy son Arun? Who is the man who is so in love with June?

The cinematography gets all thumbs up. The colours, angles and freshness are beautiful and bring out the talents of the 3 leading ladies. The story seems to stagger a little bit here and there, but the subject is a heartwarming one. Suriya's guest appearance is all that it's touted to be - like a breath of fresh air.

Although the flow of the movie could have been a little better and differently dealt with, the film is good primarily because of the strong roles of the women in it.
